Editorial policy
How the Academy's content is written, reviewed, dated and corrected, and the standards it holds itself to.
Who is the content for?
Content on this site is intended for health professionals and educational purposes. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace clinical judgment, supervised training or local guidance. Procedures should be performed only by licensed practitioners within their legal scope of practice.
Who writes and reviews it?
Clinical content is written or reviewed and approved by Dr. S. Nouri Rafiee before publication. Drafts that have not been approved are not published. When a second reviewer takes part, that person is named; the Academy does not describe content as reviewed by someone who has not reviewed it.
How are dates handled?
Educational notes show the date they were published and the date they were last reviewed. Dates change only when the content changes substantively, never to make a page appear more recent.
Which sources are used?
Clinical and educational statements are supported by primary or authoritative sources: peer-reviewed articles, systematic reviews, clinical references and the guidance of professional bodies. Sources are cited with enough detail to be found, with a DOI or permanent link where one exists.
How is artificial intelligence used?
Artificial intelligence tools may assist with drafting, organizing research and editing. Every clinical statement is checked against its sources and approved by Dr. Rafiee before publication.
Some images on this site are illustrative and were generated with artificial intelligence tools. The Academy does not use AI-generated images of patients, wounds or real people. Photographs of Dr. Rafiee are real photographs.
Which words does the Academy avoid?
The Academy describes its work by its real stage of development. The educational framework has been developed; its pilot and evaluation are in development, and neither the framework nor the programs are described as validated, proven or accredited until evidence or a formal decision supports it. Programs that have not run are described as designed to achieve their outcomes, not as achieving them.
How are clinical images handled?
Identifiable patient images are used only with documented consent, and never on the home page. Case-based teaching uses material without identifiable patient data.
How are errors corrected?
Errors can be reported through the contact page. Substantive corrections are made promptly, and the date of the correction is shown on the page concerned.
How are interests disclosed?
Financial relationships relevant to the Academy’s educational content are declared on the disclosures page. Educational content does not promote specific commercial products.
