Dr. S. Nouri Rafiee

Who is Dr. S. Nouri Rafiee?

Dr. S. Nouri Rafiee (S. Noureddin Rafiee) is a physician with postgraduate training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in Argentina, with more than twenty years of clinical and surgical experience in Argentina and Spain, and the founder and Academic Director of Rafiee Academy, an educational initiative in surgical wound management, aesthetic closure, scar optimization and patient safety.

Dr. Rafiee trained in Buenos Aires: a degree in medicine at the University of Buenos Aires, a residency in general surgery, an accredited four-year residency in plastic surgery at Hospital Bernardino Rivadavia and Hospital Argerich (title from the Ministry of Health of Argentina), and university specialist training in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Buenos Aires. The medical degree was recognized in Spain in 2003, and Dr. Rafiee is registered with the Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Médicos de Madrid. Professional profile: LinkedIn.

Why does a reconstructive training matter for teaching?

Part of that specialist training took place in reconstructive surgery, microsurgery and maxillofacial reconstruction at Hospital Fernández in Buenos Aires, under Prof. Dr. José Belmont: free and pedicled flaps, post-traumatic and oncological reconstruction. In 2005 Dr. Rafiee presented work on the free rectus abdominis flap based on deep perforating vessels at the III International Congress of Microsurgery in Buenos Aires.

Reconstruction is the discipline of moving, preserving and closing tissue so that it heals well. That background is part of the surgical ground behind Wound-to-Scar™ and Aesthetic Surgical Skills for Physicians, and behind the conviction at the center of the Academy: plastic surgery is the specialty in which the scar is part of the result.

Clinical practice

Dr. Rafiee has practiced in Spain since 2008, after surgical training and practice in Buenos Aires from 1998 to 2008. The experience covers facial and body aesthetic surgery, reconstructive surgery, hair restoration and advanced aesthetic medicine, including minimally invasive procedures. It includes eight years as surgical assistant and collaborator in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at Hospital Ruber Internacional in Madrid, from 2009 to 2017, and six years as principal physician in aesthetic surgery at Clínica Massana in Valladolid, Zamora and Salamanca, from 2014 to 2020.

Since 2010 Dr. Rafiee has been medical director of Medicalesthetic, a medical practice in Madrid. The Academy is separate from that practice.

Educational work

Part of Dr. Rafiee’s professional activity is now devoted to medical education and academic development. That work focuses on practical clinical skills and on integrating surgical principles, wound management, aesthetic considerations, minimally invasive techniques, patient safety and clinical judgment.

Through Rafiee Academy, Dr. Rafiee seeks to develop structured educational programs that complement traditional medical training and give healthcare professionals practical tools for responsible clinical practice. The Rafiee Educational Approach is the framework that holds them together: six phases, from assessment to follow-up, designed to be taught as one continuous clinical judgment.
